wouldn't it be nice?

Its like that Beach Boys song "Wouldn't It Be Nice" - the one they used in the Cadbury advertisement..

Wouldn't it be nice if everyone in this world could do exactly what they wanted. No questions asked. If I could, I would be working in an events management company, hopefully specialising in wedding planning. I wouldn't be studying my little arse off in Laws 101. Not that it probably isn't going to pay off if I worked hard enough or become a top notch lawyer. One can always dream. But yes, given the chance, I would like to be working as an events planner/manager. Not that I wouldn't complain about it either from time to time. It just that I know the complaining and whining will all cease when the time comes and I reap the satisfaction of having successfully planned and executed yet another almost seemingly flawless event. Like I said, one can dream.

However, snapping back to this real world we are living in (and trust me, it doesn't get anymore real than this), me having a career in events management is highly improbable in the near future. Hence me working my little arse off in Laws 101. And Celine most likely dabbling in Accounting for if she was to do what she really wanted to do- that being photography- the result would be.. yeah well, let's not even go there. But honestly, wouldn't it be nice?

And what would YOU (yes you the reader), do if you had the chance to choose exactly what you wanted to do without having to consider anything else?

Moving along I learnt about this thing called the "Nozick Pleasure Machine" today in Phil 139. Get your mind out of the gutter I say! This Nozick Pleasure Machine is meant to give you ultimate pleasure (not sexually.. not in the physical sense anyway.. purely emotional) in an unconscious state. From what I gather, its a machine they hook you up to, and all your deepest, darkest fantasies will come true - only in your mind of course. I, for one, voted to not be hooked up to the machine. For if you ever only taste pure pleasure and happiness, wouldn't it just be normal and a everyday thing? I mean, the only thing that makes pleasure and happiness what it is, is the fact that we go through pain and suffering. Its the pain, suffering, trials, tribulations and unhappiness of life that makes happiness and joy so much sweeter when we do attain it.

me thinks this pleasure machine will make you better.
either that, or you will become a crazed addict :D great :D two possible outcomes.

It's a good way to deal with serial killers though. Lower their likelyhood bursting out in prison

one guy in class commented "what if this psychopath's fantasy was to commit suicide? he'd be dreaming of suicide all the time.. but never dying.. wouldn't that be real frustrating?" lol

I could be young and naive and all, but I thinks I haves found what I would like to do for the rest of my life.

But of course, I can't really say that until I've actually seen what advertising designers do.. and whether I'm any good at it.

Well I guess that's what school is for.
